GEI Launches OFUQ 4.0 with Lufthansa Technik Middle East – Redefining Train-and-Hire for Emirati Engineering Talent

Abu Dhabi, UAE – 1 June 2026 – The German Emirati Institute (GEI) is pleased to announce Lufthansa Technik Middle East as the first industry partner to join OFUQ 4.0, a strategic Train-and-Hire programme implemented by GEI and sponsored by the Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement.

The partnership marks an important milestone in the expansion of OFUQ 4.0 and reflects a shared commitment to developing the next generation of Emirati professionals through structured workforce development, practical industry experience, and long-term employment opportunities.

Unlike conventional training programmes, OFUQ 4.0 is specifically designed as a Train-and-Hire initiative. The programme combines a 10-week industry-focused training programme with direct employment opportunities, preparing Emirati fresh graduates for clearly defined roles within participating companies. Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates transition into full-time employment with their sponsoring company under a minimum two-year employment contract, creating a seamless pathway from education to sustainable careers while enabling companies to develop talent tailored to their operational needs.

As the first industry partner of OFUQ 4.0, Lufthansa Technik Middle East will play an active role in preparing Emirati fresh graduates for careers in the aviation sector. Through close collaboration with GEI, the company will contribute its industry expertise, helping ensure that the training reflects real business requirements and international best practices.

As a leading provider of aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services, Lufthansa Technik Middle East brings extensive expertise from one of the world's most innovative and highly regulated industries. Emirati fresh graduates will gain valuable insights into aviation technologies, operational excellence, quality standards, and professional working environments, equipping them with the technical and professional competencies required for long-term success.

"Developing future talent requires more than classroom learning. Practical industry experience plays a critical role in preparing young professionals for the workplace, providing them with the skills, exposure, and confidence needed to build successful careers," said Lufthansa Technik Middle East.

The collaboration between GEI, the Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement, and Lufthansa Technik Middle East demonstrates how strong partnerships between government, education, and industry contribute to building a highly skilled national workforce. By combining structured training with guaranteed employment opportunities, OFUQ 4.0 supports the UAE's vision of developing sustainable national capabilities while helping companies invest in their future workforce.

Helmut Reichelt, Director Education Affairs at the German Emirati Institute, welcomed the partnership:

"We are delighted to welcome Lufthansa Technik Middle East as the first industry partner of OFUQ 4.0. Their commitment demonstrates the value of close collaboration between industry and education in developing highly qualified Emirati talent. The Train-and-Hire approach ensures that Emirati fresh graduates are not only equipped with the technical and professional skills required by industry but are also prepared for long-term careers within participating companies. We sincerely appreciate Lufthansa Technik Middle East's trust and look forward to building a successful and lasting partnership."

As OFUQ 4.0 continues to expand, GEI is actively building a network of leading industry partners across strategic sectors. The programme offers companies a unique opportunity to recruit and develop highly motivated Emirati fresh graduates through a structured training pathway that leads directly into long-term employment.

Companies interested in becoming an OFUQ 4.0 industry partner are invited to connect with the German Emirati Institute to explore collaboration opportunities. By participating in the programme, organisations can contribute to Emirati talent development, strengthen industry-academia collaboration, and build a future-ready workforce while supporting the UAE's national Emiratisation objectives.          [Become a Partner →]
